You were deported from France
If you were deported from France you are eligible for the official“title” of “political deportee”. After being given the official “title” of “political deportee”, you can apply for a pension.
Who is eligible to receive the official title of ̴political deportee” ? 
In France the title of “political deportee” refers to any person who was deported after June 16, 1940, due to the Nazi occupier or the French state, for motives other then acts of Resistance, with the exception of ordinary offences.
The official title of ’political deportee’ (instituted by the law #48-1404, on September 9, 1948 and the decree # 50-325, on March 1st, 1950) is applicable to French persons and foreign persons present in France at the time of deportation who were:
• transferred and interned by the enemy in prisons or concentration camps outside of the national territory, no condition of duration is required.
• interned in camps and prisons of Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin and Moselle and interned in any other territories exclusively administered by the enemy, especially in Indochina. Moselle-Alsatians who were detained in Rhine and Moselle departments and prisoners from deportation camps in Indochina must give proof of an internment of at least 3 months or one of the conditions of exception to this duration (escape or pension for a recognized disease caused by detention).
• taken by the enemy to a prison or a concentration camp and died or escaped on the way
• while they were war prisoners or workers in Germany, transferred to a camp or a prison considered as a deportation location. War prisoners and non-voluntary workers in Germany must have been interned until the liberation of the camp or the prison, or escaped, except in case of liberation, through the Red-Cross for instance.

What are the rights given by the title of “political deportee”?
The title of “political deportee” gives the following rights:
• to a pension of civil victims of war under the conditions of the code of military pensions of invalidity and war victims (reversible but not transferable)• to the consideration of the period of deportation or internment in the calculation of the seniority required for retirement as well as in the promotion when it wasn’t taken into account under other provisions
• to the compensation for loss of assets
• to wear the “Medal of the deportation and internment”
• to be within the jurisdiction of the National Office of Veterans and War Victims (ONAC).
Remark
The persons who were deported from France during WWII, who don’t have the French nationality today and who don’t already receive a pension from Germany can apply for a pension from the French authorities if they are citizens from Poland, Czech Republic, United Kingdom and Belgium (countries which have a reciprocity agreement with France) or if they have a statute of refugee according to the Geneva convention and the French organization OFPRA.The persons who were deported from another European country and are French citizens today can apply for the title of “political deportee” but are not eligible for a pension.

How do I apply for a “political deportee’s” pension ?
• First, the applicant needs to get the title of “political deportee” before applying for the pension.
• The applications are subject to a ministerial decision after consultation of the departmental commission and the national commission of “political deportees and internees”.
• A medical visit, intended to evaluate the harm endured and the repercussions, will be arranged by the services of the Ministry of Defense and will serve as a basis to determine the amount of the pension.
• The pensions of “political deportees” can be drawn concurrently with an annuity from Germany.
• The persons considered as foreign during the war and benefiting for many years from a “Wiedergutmachung” annuity under the BEG law are not eligible for any other reparation from the German government (except a retirement pension supplement).
